Choosing the Right Backpack

Before our trip, we researched backpacks to find ones that would fit all our essentials. I chose the Lug Hopper Shorty, which is compact but still has enough space for toddler necessities. The bag has two water bottle pouches, which were perfect for holding my and Frankie’s water bottles. I loved that the Lug Hopper Shorty has a small pocket that is against your back to store my wallet and/or phone.

I also brought a Vera Bradley Mickey Mouse belt bag, which doubled as a purse when we weren’t in the parks.

Michael chose a Mystery Ranch 2 Day Backpack in the smaller size that worked for his needs.

We planned who would carry what and pre-packed everything to make sure it all fit.

What We Packed in Our Bags

Essentials in Both Bags:

  • Wipes (we ordered smaller packs to grab a fresh pack each day)
  • FuelRod portable chargers
  • Snacks (never underestimate how many snacks a toddler needs!)
  • Hand sanitizer

baby wipes

Michael’s Bag:

  • Anything meal-related: disposable bibs (these really came in handy for Mickey ice creams), sanitizing wipes for high chairs and tables, collapsible bowl (for sharing purchase snacks), utensils, and silicone straws (Disney only uses paper straws)
  • Bento box so we could pack a homemade lunchable and a small ice pack
  • Frankie’s change of clothes, stored in a wet bag for spills or accidents
  • The GoPro
  • First aid kit (he’s a first responder, so he was fully prepared)

Helpful Accessories

  • Phone Wrist Strap: So I could hang my phone from my wrist and access it easily. This was great for those moments when you are trying to take a picture but quickly have to grab your kid and don’t have time to put your phone away.
  • Backpack Charm Bar: Perfect for carrying a hat (or Mickey ears) hands-free.
  • Magic Band Protectors: These loops keep your Magic Band secure, which is essential when bending my wrist to pick up my toddler.
  • AirTag and holder in the stroller for easy tracking
  • Glow sticks: perfect for darker rides and bonus entertainment for toddlers

Park Bag Packing Tips for Disney with a Toddler

  • Pre-plan your items: Decide ahead of time who carries what to avoid last-minute scrambling.
  • Use smaller packs: Wipes and snacks in small, single-use packs make daily access easy.
  • Think toddler-friendly: Extra clothes, a collapsible potty seat, and little distractions like glow sticks or small toys and stickers can save the day.
